Fifteen individuals have been selected as the 2006 inductees into the South Dakota Hall of Fame. The South Dakota Hall of Fame, located in Chamberlain, recognizes and honors pioneers and leaders who have contributed to the development and heritage of South Dakota. This year's inductees were chosen from a list of 72 nominees.

Professional: Marcella Ryan LeBeau of Eagle Butte had a 31-year career as a nurse with the Indian Health Service in Eagle Butte and is a founding member of the North American Indian Women's Association. A member of the Army Nurse Corps in Europe during World War II, she was one of 100 U.S. WW II veterans to receive the French Legion of Honor medal in 2004.

Close to 600 South Dakotans have been selected for recognition since the Hall of Fame was established in 1974. Each year, photographs and information about current inductees are on display at the Hall of Fame, along with additional exhibits of historical importance to South Dakota. Information on the 2005 inductees will be on display until after the 2006 induction ceremonies September 15-16 at the Ramkota in Watertown.
The Hall of Fame, situated along Interstate 90 at the Chamberlain exit, is open to the public. There is no admission charge. Find more information about the South Dakota Hall of Fame at www.sdhalloffame.com
